Ruto’s latest choice is being questioned by Raila Odinga’s camp. I term it a “premature decision.”
Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Raila Odinga is eager to run again, and according to sources, his camp has already started making behind-the-scenes preparations that could help him win back the election he lost.
In a report covered by the Star Kenya, Raila Odinga’s attorney, Paul Mwangi, reportedly questioned President William Ruto’s decision to disclose three IEBC vacancies, labeling the action as hurried and premature.
Following Kenya Kwanza’s efforts to oust the four IEBC commissioners who rejected presidential results in favor of Azimio la Umoja’s leader Raila Odinga, he made this audacious maneuver.
Azimio la Umoja’s supporters have responded by pledging to defend the four commissioners while Wafula Chebukati, Boys Molu, and Professor Guliye prepare to fight over the expiration of their terms.
Paul Mwangi said in his statement that a vacancy should exist before any hiring procedure is started, claiming that President William Ruto erred by failing to gazete the supposed openings.
As fresh claims could surface, this appears to be a roadblock for William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza and the IEBC.
