Big win for JEREMIAH KIONI and MURATHE after the Tribunal reinstates them as Jubilee SG and Vice-chairman respectively

Thursday, February 16, 2023 – Former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni has received a huge boost in his pursuit to remain as Jubilee party Secretary General after the Political Parties Tribunal ruled in his favor on Thursday.

Kioni, and former Gatanga Member of Parliament David Murathe, were kicked out as Secretary General and Vice Chairman respectively by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).

However, Kioni appealed his case to the Registrar of political parties Anne Nderitu who ruled against his appeal. Kioni did not give up and forwarded the matter to the tribunal.

The tribunal’s Chairperson Desma Nungo said the stay order shall remain in place until the 24th of February when the matter shall be heard to confirm compliance and for further directions.

“Pending inter partes hearing and determination of the application, interim conservatory orders are hereby issued staying the Respondent’s decision communicated vide the letter dated 13th February 2023 to the effect that the (Jubilee Party NEC) meeting (held on 10th February 2023) was properly convened per the party constitution and further staying any consequential action by the Respondent towards effecting, adopting or ratifying the resolutions of the subject meeting,” read the Order.
