DP Ruto’s Camp Dealt Major Setback As High Court Throws Out Sylvanus Osoro’s Petition

Deputy President and the Kenya Kwanza coalition presidential candidate Dr. William Samoei Ruto’s camp have been dealt a huge blow after the High Court dismissed an application by Ruto’s point man Hon. Sylvanus Osoro and the other two petitioners seeking to bar the Supreme Court from ordering the IEBC to declare Raila Odinga as Presidential winner after a recount of votes.

The three were challenging the efficacy of section 80(4) which give power to an election court to declare the presidential election winner upon re-count of votes.

The judge said that the High court has no Jurisdiction to entertain such applications touching on the Supreme court.

As it stands, the Supreme Court can order a recount and order IEBC to issue the legitimate winner with a presidential certificate.

This comes just hours after the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission IEBC officials presented voting materials that were used to conduct the just concluded general election which was full of malpractices according to the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance Coalition brigades led by their Presidential candidate Rt Raila Amolo Odinga.
