kisumu national polytechnic was established in 1967 as a technical vocational center and and later underwent through the elevation of technical training institute to a national Polytechnic and was further upgraded to a National Polytechnic status in 1997 by the Ministry of Education to meet the regional demand for technical skills in Kenya.

For you to enrol at the institution, you have to meet the criteria set. Here are the minimum requirements for you to be admitted for the diploma courses:
You need a KCSE mean grade of above C- (Minus).
For courses such as Architecture, you need a KCSE mean grade of C (Plain).
You need at least a C- (Minus) in either English or Kiswahili.
Depending on the course you choose, you will need a mean grade of C- (Minus) and above for cluster subjects.
