MKU Shows Readiness For The New TSC TPD As I Advertises Over Recruitment
The new directive by the Teachers Service commission (TSC) indicates that it is mandatory for every teacher registered with TSC to undergo the Teacher Professional Development programme (TPD). As a move to show readiness for the module, Mount Kenya University, which has been listed as one of the accredited institutions that will be offering the TPD module by the Teachers Service commission, has posted an advertisement calling on teachers to register for the programme.
As the first requirement by the TSC, MKU is supposed to implement the programme and invite those registered with TSC for enrolment.
But what is the objective of the TPD?
According to TSC, the main objective of TPD is to:
1. Equip teachers and keep them with up to date modernized professional skills
2. Capacitate teachers in creating competent and ideal leaders and creating a safe and a healthy learning environment.
In addition, at the end of the TPD programme and training, those teachers who would have qualified shall be given a teaching certificate which is renewable after every 5 years.
