Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has addressed the controversy surrounding Russian national Vyacheslav Trahov, popularly known as Yaytseslav, who went viral after posting videos of his encounters with several Kenyan women he claimed to have had sexual relationships with.
The viral clips have fueled a national conversation about digital exploitation, online privacy, and the protection of women. In a strongly worded statement, Mwaura condemned the man’s actions, accusing him of exploiting the women and violating their privacy by recording their interactions and sharing the footage online without consent.
“I condemn the Russian man for taking advantage of our ladies,” Mwaura said. “However, as Africans, we must also learn to love ourselves. Our women should not perceive that everyone who is white is automatically wealthy.”
He cautioned Kenyan women against entering intimate relationships with foreigners based on assumptions of affluence, warning that such perceptions can expose them to exploitation and reputational harm.
“We must love ourselves so that we are not deceived into doing things that go against our values and allow others to look down upon us,” he added.
Cultural Reflection and Digital Responsibility
Mwaura urged Kenyans to reflect on what he described as a gradual erosion of cultural values, arguing that this shift has left many vulnerable to manipulation and risky behavior. His remarks come amid growing concern about online safety, digital consent, and the exploitation of women through social media platforms.
Government Support for Vulnerable Groups
Beyond addressing the controversy, Mwaura outlined broader government efforts aimed at supporting women, youth, and persons with disabilities across Kenya.
He revealed that the government has developed a roadmap to expand the enrollment of marginalized groups into cash transfer programs, backed by additional funding.
“Grants for persons with severe disabilities have been increased from 46,000 beneficiaries to 63,938. The number of orphans and vulnerable children receiving support now stands at 438,804, while 1,213,214 senior citizens are benefiting from government assistance,” Mwaura said.
The spokesperson also confirmed that the government has begun implementing the Building Code 2024 and the Persons with Disabilities Act 2025 to improve accessibility in public buildings. In addition, authorities are drafting the Older Persons Bill 2025 to strengthen care and legal protections for senior citizens.
The government further plans to train 600,000 mothers and sole caregivers to help them access government procurement opportunities, a move aimed at expanding economic inclusion.
Mwaura said these measures form part of a broader national strategy designed to promote dignity, inclusion, and economic empowerment for Kenya’s most vulnerable populations.
