Public Alert: Despite Dismissal, Ezekiel Mutua Still Claims He’s MCSK CEO Richard Kamau

The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has issued a stern warning to the public, members, and partners not to engage with Ezekiel Mutua, who has no authority within the organization following his dismissal.

In a public notice dated January 12, 2026, and published in leading newspapers, MCSK’s Board of Directors expressed concern that Mutua has continued to present himself as the society’s CEO, creating confusion about his role despite being legally removed.

“The Music Copyright Society of Kenya Limited (MCSK) Board of Directors raises concern over continued public misinformation by Ezekiel Mutua, who was dismissed as an employee of MCSK by the Board of Directors on 03 April 2025. MCSK Board of Directors notes that despite the dismissal and its subsequent affirmation by two High Court rulings in May 2025 after being challenged, Ezekiel Mutua has persisted in presenting himself to the public as MCSK’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO),” the notice reads in part.

The board cautioned that Mutua no longer holds any position or authority to transact business on behalf of the society.

“Ezekiel Mutua is no longer an employee of MCSK and does not have any authority to transact any business for and on behalf of MCSK,” the board warned.

MCSK urged its members, stakeholders, and the general public to remain vigilant and avoid being misled into financial or other commitments with Mutua under the guise of representing the society.

“MCSK Board of Directors kindly urges MCSK Members, Stakeholders, Partners and the public to remain vigilant and careful so as not to be misled and or misrepresented to enter into commitments and or financial or otherwise with Ezekiel Mutua either as an employee and or representative of MCSK,” the notice added.

The society also made it clear that it will not be liable for any losses, damages, or injuries arising from transactions conducted with Mutua in the name of MCSK.

“Disclaimer is hereby issued to MCSK Members, stakeholders, partners and the public that MCSK shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury incurred for transacting with Ezekiel Mutua in the name of MCSK,” the notice states.

Mutua was appointed MCSK CEO in March 2022 after a competitive recruitment process. Prior to that, he served as CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) until August 2021.
