Weakening Raila? Details Emerge On What Uhuru Did Hours Before Ruto Was Declared President-Elect
On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Kenyans turned up in large numbers and voted for various political positions hoping that their preferred choices of politicians could emerge victorious starting from the Members of County assembly seats, the Members of National Assembly seats, the Woman Representative seats, Senatorial Seat, Gubernatorial seat, and finally the Presidential seat.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2022, the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission led by their chairman Dr. Wafula Chebukati declared the Kenya Kwanza coalition presidential candidate Dr. William Samoei Ruto as the President-elect after he garnered the required threshold of 50% of the total votes followed closely by the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance Coalition presidential candidate Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga who garnered 48% of the total votes.
Following the announcement by Chebukati, Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance Coalition wing refuted the result terming it as null and void pointing out that it was compromised with lots of malpractices by Chebukati and a section of the Kenya Kwanza team who alleged that are in political bed with some of the IEBC officials.
With Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance Coalition presidential candidate Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga being on the side of President Uhuru Kenyatta, some Kenyan citizens are now accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta citing that all along he has been weakening Raila Odinga while supporting DP Ruto.
This statement was anchored by one of Kenya’s Political analyst identified as Ben Kinuthia who revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta was privy to the information that DP William Samoei Ruto was going to be declared President yet he ensured there was enough GSU personnel.
“The head of state must be commended because there was an overinvestment of security at Bomas. I am sure he was privy to the information that Ruto was going to be declared President yet he ensured there was enough GSU personnel.”
