What Kenyans Should Expect As Court Set To Make Ruling On BBI 72Hrs After Raila Said This
The Court of Appeal will deliver its judgment on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) appeal case on August 20, 2021.
Since Tuesday, the court has been hearing submissions by proponents and opponents in the case, who are seeking to have High Court’s judgment that nullified the BBI overturned or upheld.
There were nine issues at the heart of the hearing, among them public participation, IEBC quorum, and the role of BBI promoters and initiators. For four days, top legal minds, old and new, took turns to defend their arguments, treating Kenyans to a legal face-off.
Kenyans should expect the Building Bridges Initiative Bill to sail through if the bench of seven appeal court judges will find all the aspects needed for a constitutional amendment or the fall of the document if the said judges will find out the aspects were not followed in the whole process.
This comes as the Orange Democratic Movement party leader said they will revisit the Building Bridges Initiative when they form the next government next year.
The opposition chief said they will not move to the Supreme Court to challenge an unfavorable ruling but will instead concentrate on preparing for the 2022 elections.
