Writer Robert Chaulo’s Tips For The 2022 Elections

1

As much as we all advocate for democratic space and fairness in political competition;

Remember that highly monetized political campaigns are dangerous. It’s unfortunate that our young and highly promising electorate are ready to sell their loyalty in elections for cheap things given to them during campaigns.

Shrewd politicians have perfected the art of splashing millions in campaigns with intentions of looting billions once elected. Such leaders rarely award multi-million tenders to ordinary people!

I wanna let our people understand this thieving plan which normally materializes if we go by it. In developed countries, it’s never the case.

Politicians should use minimal resources in campaigns but use any airtime to sell their agenda. They should donate yes, but sparingly.

They can join the people with their contributions during funerals, church functions, fundraisers, sponsor needy learners, sporting activities and reach out to the sick among other social responsibilities. That’s not bad.

If it reaches a case whereby KES 1,000 is given to an individual; take care. No development will be done.

These people are clever. They give you with one hand and steal from you with the other hand. Politicians who get into offices without debts normally deliver their promises.
