Kisumu City Reportedly Set For Major Investment Conference Ahead Of This Critical Africa’s Event

Kisumu City is reportedly gearing up for a major conference this year, ahead of next year’s Afri-cities summit.

The summit, christened Kisumu Investment Conference will be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Sports stadium in Mamboleo from 26th to 29th September, 2021.

On Thursday, Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o met a section of diplomats in Nairobi, to bring them up to speed with preparations ahead of the conference.
He met diplomats from various nations among them South Africa and South Sudan. He said the meeting with diplomats signals the start of come-together with various stakeholders as the day to the conference draws near.

‘‘The diplomatic community wanted to know some information that was missing, including the comparative advantage of Kisumu within the Lake Region Economic Bloc and the East Africa region considering Kisumu is an entry point to both regions, sitting at the end of Lake Victoria and enjoying maritime advantage,’’ said tne first term County boss.

Nyong’o’s administration will use the platform to be provided by the conference to market key centers of the economy among them tourism, agriculture, industrialization, sports and culture.

After the conference, Kisumu will host the Africities summit in April, next year. It is a Pan-african summit which brings together representatives from African Countries.

The summit was planned for November this year, before it was pushed foward because of effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
