Tension Remains High In Kaben, Marakwet East Constituency After A Banditry Attack That Left 4 People Dead

The banditry attack that claimed 4 lives in 2 days in Marakwet east constituency is the reason behind the residents’ protest, who want a security operation initiated to raid the area of all bandits.

According to the residents, the unending banditry attacks in the area are causing them sleepless nights.

 

In just 2 days, 4 people have died. Among those reported dead are a mother, her two children who were harvesting sorghum on their farm, and an agricultural officer.

For Longet’s family, the pain of losing three family members at once is unbearable. Questions are bound on what triggered the bandits’ actions against the mother and her children.

In yet another banditry attack in Samburu County, a Turkana ranger was shot dead in a gun battle between two communities.

At Parakati Kitale, Samburu county, 2 firearms; an AK47 with 20 rounds of ammunition, and an FN rifle with 15 bullets were recovered. The cause of the flare-up is yet to be established.
