Elsewhere, The preparations to ensure smooth transition of power from outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta to the president elect William is ongoing. This is despite the fact that Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance team are preparing to challenge Ruto’s at the Supreme Court. President Uhuru already created a transition committee even before the election results were announced. The committee is headed by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua. The only thing that was remaining was for the president elect to nominate a few of his allies to the committee who will be updating him on the developments in regards to swearing in ceremony.
Ruto officially nominated three members of Kenya Kwanza to represent him in the transition committee. This teams includes; Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina. Shollei who represents Ruto’s home county in the national assembly has been active in the campaign and success of the president elect. Shollei is Ruto’s strong ally who is always ready to defend him at all cost. She has been instrumental in the national assembly and also represented UDA in many political debates on different TV stations. During the results tallying at the Bomas, Shollei was among Ruto’s Chief agents who spent days just to ensure his votes as safe and not tampered with. This is perhaps why she has been nominated to such an important committee.
Like we all know, UDA is among the new parties in this year’s general elections. However,it became so vibrant and popular across the country all thanks to the leadership, strategies and advice of Veronica Maina. She was instrumental in forming the party, formulation of the strategies and penetrating into the voters minds something that has drove Ruto to the top seat. She was also key during the campaigns of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. On the other hand,Muturi joined forces with Ruto a few weeks to the elections. He comes from the rich Mt Kenya region and has a national figure since he has served as speaker. The three will be part of the transition committee that consists of Secretary to the Cabinet, the Chief of Defense Forces and Interior CS and PS.
