Friday, February 10, 2023 – Chaos and pandemonium rocked Limuru Road in Nairobi after traders took to the street to demonstrate against President William Ruto’s government.
The traders from Nairobi City Park market blocked the busy road and lit bonfires accusing Ruto of failing to fulfill the promises he made them during his presidential campaigns.
One trader who requested anonymity said since Ruto took power, their businesses have not been performing well due to heavy taxation and heavy licensing from the Nairobi county government.
Police from Pangani and Parkland police stations contained the demos which caused a major traffic snarl-up along Prof Wangari Maathai Road and Limuru Road.
Here are photos of Kikuyus traders demonstrating against Ruto’s government yet they were warned by former President Uhuru Kenyatta against electing Ruto and his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, who he termed them as ‘shameless thieves’.
