Deputy President and the United Democratic Alliance party leader Dr. William Samoei Ruto’s UDA party has Reportedly suffered a big Blow after their powerful Isiolo Gubernatorial aspirant Hussein Tene steps down for Independent candidate Godana Doyo to run for the seat, with only days remaining until Kenyans hold the much anticipated general election, which is scheduled to take place on August 9, 2022.

These came after thorough consultations between the two politicians’ sides with the latest opinion poll by TIFA conducted in the region revealing that majority of Isiolo County residents are considering Godana Doyo as their preferred Governor, whereas Doyo had a whopping 45% while Tene had 34%.

Hon. Godana Doyo is a Kenyan politician who was the first Governor of Isiolo County from 2013 to 2017, elected as a member of the United Republican Party (before it joined the Jubilee Party).

He was defeated in his re-election bid, this time as a member of the Party of Development and Reforms, by Mohammed Kuti. Doyo was cleared of all cases filed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Tene was among the six Borana leaders who went through the elders screening that chose Doyo as the community’s gubernatorial flag bearer in January.

Other candidates in the race include Kenneth Turibo Maore (PNU) and Kimaita Machuguma of Safina party.
