Cluster-points calculator for 2020
Many concerns have been brought online by the 2020 KCSE Candidates that they are facing challenges on the new ways of calculating their cluster points.
In this post, i am going to break the process down into simpler steps.
All candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are advised to login to the Kenya universities and colleges central placement service and revise their choices.
Newly applying students can also login and place their course for revision.
Every course you are applying for has a set qualifications that you must achieved. For example; journalism and mass communication requires a candidate to have at least a C+ in one of the following subjects from each category.

Cluster-points calculator for 2020
To get your cluster points in simple steps, apply the formula breakdown below.
a) Take the sum of points in the four subjects considered in whatever course you wish to take then divide by 48
(48 used above is the maximum points in those 4 subjects)
b) Take your total points divide by 84, e.g 68/84
c) Multiply answer in (a) above by answer in (b) above
d) Get the square root of the product
e) Multiply the square root you get in (C) above by 48. That is it!.
Similarly you can apply the compressed formula bellow.
C=[√ (r/R * t/T)]*48
Where:
r -Sum of 4 cluster subject
R=48 – maximum points for 4 subjects
t = Your total pts
T=84 – maximum points
Now you can login to the students portal and fill in the courses of your choice with reference to the cluster points you got.
