Good News To Migori Farmers As Government Expected To Cough This Amount To Revive Sugarcane Farming Sector

The government is expected to cough in 350 million to Sony Sugar Company in bid to resurrect it from deep financial crisis that has seen farmers, workers and various stakeholders go for months without pay.

The cane crushing capacity which has since greatly reduced will be improved to economically sound levels by carrying out proper and intensive maintenance of the crushing machine and other equipments within the factory.

In a memorandum submitted to the President by the Luo Nyanza elected leaders especially from Migori County, Sony Sugar was accorded a great priority by Senator Ochilo Ayacko, Hon Paul Abuor,Hon.Walter Owino and Hon.Mark Nyamita among others as this remains the economic lifeblood of many people in Migori County.

Even as we anticipate for the goodies from the national government courtesy of Handshake, we are alive to the fact that Sony Sugar Management need to assure farmers and all Sugar cane stakeholders that the money will be put to accountable usage. That this time there wont be any sinister financial transactions or a scscintilla coins lost lest we even hit deeply the bottom rock ‘nadir’ or worse still, an economic cul de sac in the sugarcane growing regions of Migori.
