At the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) the two strongholds were the president of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga, who believed that the Kenyan constitution needed very important amendments.
Many Kenyans and different politicians had different views, others supporting it and others going against it. However the matter got into the high court of people who were disputing the whole BBI process and the procedure taken in its initiation.
The high court went ahead to nullify the whole process of BBI foundation citing lack of enough quorum of the IEBS commissioners in the BBI initiation process.
However the concerned parties made an appeal at the court of appeal in which the BBI process didn’t survive two. A bench of 7 Judges who were on the case made a verdict that the BBI process was null and void and that the constitution of Kenya was not followed in the making of the initiative.
After the verdict, many parties gave their views and the president has finally come out to declare that he fully obeys the court decision, even though he thinks they didn’t make the right one.
