Where Are These Children? Ministry Of Education Goes Into Fact Finding Mission As The Country Records A Low Form One Turn-up

The ministry of education has registered its disappointments through the ministry of education CS Dr. George Magoha, whereby the country has registered a low form one turn up in the recent form one placement. It has been reported that about 40% which approximates to about 471,000 form one students are nowhere to be seen.

This has prompted the education CS to direct all education officers to comb the respective regions and locate learners who are yet to report to form one.

Magoha who led a multi-agency team on Monday morning for the mop up exercise in the coastal regions, expressed disappointments with the low form one transition rate in the region which was trailing at 60% compared to other parts of the country that were recording an average of 80% form one transition rate.

The education CS conducted a targeted door to door exercise to find form one hopefuls who were yet to occupy their slots in their respective secondary schools. However, many parents have attributed to the low form one transition to the current hard economic times as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
