Kiamba and Maguga constituencies by-election intensify as UDA alleged hired goon only identified as Ezekiel Rotich Kemboi caused mayhem and violence in Kiambaa nabbed with fake ballot papers at Gatanga in Kiambaa constituency. Residents beat him mercilessly like a “burukenge”.
President Uhuru’s Jubilee party is facing stiff competition from Ruto’s UDA party candidate honorable John Njuguna.
The two political bigwigs had also fielded candidates in Muguga Ward, whose Member of County Assembly succumbed to the deadly Covid-19.
This comes only some hours before the two constituencies plunge into their by-elections after the sudden deaths of their respective leader, with the jubilee party considering the two seats a must-win contest.
Uhuru’s win in both regions will eventually mean that he is still a formidable force. Jubilee party suffered an embarrassment in Juja constituency, where its candidate lost to George Koimburi of PEP linked to deputy President’s game maker Moses Kuria who is a close ally to Ruto.
Politically, DP Ruto’s win in both by-elections will show that the UDA party is gaining acceptance in Uhuru’s backyard, where Jubilee has been dominant since Mr. Kenyatta became President in 2013.
