The Next CJ According To Latest Opinion Poll By Netizens As Kenya Chooses Its Next Chief Justice

Interviews to replace former Kenyan Chief Justice David Maraga for the post of the most important jurist in Kenya and the president of the Supreme Court have been underway.

The Judiciary is one of the three State organs established under Chapter 10, Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya. It establishes the Judiciary as an independent custodian of justice in Kenya. Its primary role is to exercise judicial authority given to it, by the people of Kenya. The institution is mandated to deliver justice in line with the Constitution and other laws.

It is expected to resolve disputes in a just manner with a view to protecting the rights and liberties of all, thereby facilitating the attainment of the ideal rule of law. The man or woman who will take up this mantle will lead the Judiciary at a time when its independence and leadership will be paramount for the nation. He or she will be selected by the Judicial Service Commission in a competitive process.

In an online opinion poll conducted by Kenyan top blogger Robert Alai between two contesters to identify the Man who Kenyans think suit the position of becoming the next Kenyan supreme Court president, senior counsel William Ouko Seems to be the favourite candidate to replace the no nonesence retired justice David Maraga in a race seen to be a two horse race.

In the pole justice William Ouko emerged victorious after scooping a staggering 65% of the total votes as senior counsel Fred Ngatia came second with only 35% of the total votes.
