The covid-19 vaccination drive is slowly picking up in Kenya. However, some unsuspecting Kenyans are falling into the traps of conmen purporting to be administering covid-19 jabs at a fee.
Appearing before senior principal magistrate Tobiko, the two suspects: Mugendi and keneth Mukundi were to answer to the charges of administering fake Johnson & Johnson’s covid-19 vaccines.
The illegal vaccination occurred on diverse dates between the month of July and august 2021 and was reported on September 7th 2021.
Corporal Kaparo Olekaken, the investigating officer from the Kasarani directorate of criminal investigation (DCI) told the court that they had received more than 10 complaints from unsuspecting clients who had received the fake covid-19 jabs, each being charged at kshs.
3000. He further requested the court to detain the two for 5 days to complete investigations. The two suspects did not object to the request by the prosecution to hold them for the period.
This comes when the ministry of health has warned those health care centers and workers selling vaccines to Kenyans, insisting that vaccines are free.
